Separating data by binary condition for mediation analysis / binaire bemiddeling

Hello everyone! I want to conduct a mediation analysis and basically use half of my data. The way I want to halve my data relates to one condition (Dutch/EE accent group) so it’s a 0/1 binary condition. The problem is that when I conduct mediation analysis through ProcessMacro, I do not see an option to analyse only the group that I am interested in separately and not all together. So if I want to explore just the Dutch accent group for example, the output I am getting is for the Accent variable as a whole, and not for the half that I need. Does anyone have any idea how I can tackle this?

P.S the condition variable Accent is an independent variable, not the mediator itself (if that’s of any help).

Dag iedereen! Ik wil een bemiddelingsanalyse uitvoeren en in principe de helft van mijn gegevens gebruiken. De manier waarop ik mijn gegevens wil halveren heeft betrekking op één voorwaarde (Nederlands/EE-accentgroep), dus het is een 0/1 binaire voorwaarde. Het probleem is dat wanneer ik bemiddelingsanalyse uitvoer via ProcessMacro, ik geen optie zie om alleen de groep waarin ik geïnteresseerd ben afzonderlijk te analyseren en niet allemaal samen. Dus als ik bijvoorbeeld alleen de Nederlandse accentgroep wil verkennen, is de uitvoer die ik krijg voor de variabele Accent als geheel, en niet voor de helft die ik nodig heb. Heeft iemand enig idee hoe ik dit kan aanpakken?

P.S. de voorwaardevariabele Accent is een onafhankelijke variabele, niet de bemiddelaar zelf (als dat helpt).

Hello Pavel,

To resolve the issue, you should select the cases you need to include in his analysis. Then, you can do any analysis, including mediation analysis, with the selected cases.

To do so, you need to follow the following steps:

1) Go to the Data menu.

2) Click ‘Select Cases’

3) Select ‘If condition is satisfied’

4) Choose the variable you want to analyze just one group (e.g., condition = 0) (In this case, we assumed that the Dutch accent group equals to 0 in your variable view).

5) Click ‘Continue’

6) Click ‘OK.

Once you have applied the filter, you can perform various analyses, including mediation, using only the selected group of cases (e.g., Dutch accent group). SPSS will only consider the filtered cases for any analysis you perform from that point onward.

Note: Remember to remove or disable the filter when you want to analyze the entire dataset again. You can do this by going to ‘Data’ menu, selecting ‘Select Cases’, and choosing the option ‘All Cases’.
